I discuss how to craft PVP weapons and armor using the Mystic Forge in the Heart of the Mists in GW2.

- How to salvage (“disenchant”) gear to acquire crafting materials

- Which two of the four crafting material inputs to the Mystic Forge affect the quality (rarity) of the output crafted item.
I recommend saving your better arcane tokens (i.e. crystals and slivers) to pair up higher-rank Glory or tournament tokens. I crafted the awesome-looking PVP Vigil Rifle in the video using a tournament PVP token paired up with an arcane crystal.
It’s not clear to me how to most efficiently acquire the arcane crystals and arcane slivers, but my guess is that they are acquired by salvaging higher-quality drops.

Hey Taugrim. I figured out the jittery video problem for sure now. It was being caused by the Shockwave Flash Plugin for Mozilla Firefox. I disabled it and was able to pop out the video for fullscreen and it worked fine then. I’m just posting this here in case others have the same problem and I didn’t want it to get buried in all the usual youtuber drek that gets posted. Downside is that I can’t watch stuff that requires the plug in and will have to find duplicates of it on youtube till I can find a version that isn’t buggy. Never had this problem before so guessing this is just a buggy version of the plug in and how it interacts with Firefox.
The pop out workaround only seems to work when I view your vids on this site. If I go to youtube to view it there it gives me an error saying I need to download flash. Weird.
Firefox has not gracefully supported Flash for some time now. For about 3 or 4 months earlier this year, Flash in Firefox would play with the colors screwed up. That bug has been addressed, but I’m not clear what other things may be broken.
I don’t know whether the Mozilla Dev team perceives how badly these issues have impacted the perception of their browser. I’ve been using Chrome and it’s so lean and functional.
Yeah, I will look into chrome. I mainly have stuck with Firefox because of NoScript. But I think maybe there is enough addon development for me to make the switch to Chrome with whatever version of NoScript they have. I’ve pretty much had it with Firefox.
Have you found that the mats you get when you breakdown items is at all related to the level of the chest you purchased? EX: you have a better chance to get the arcane sliver from a gold chest than a copper one.
Yes, you seem to get better mats in general from gold chests compared to silver and copper chests.
Superb game with excellent grapics. I’m not into Multiplayer games (specially online) but this is really awesome. I saw a great article about this game at Sheeparcade and thought to try.

Taugrim!! It’s theopf from SWTOR! I am on GW2 as well. I rolled guardian than quit because it was horribly boring. I rerolled an elementalist which is truly fun. How are things rolling for you in GW2? Where did you end up? It would be great if I saw you in game. I am running an elementalist spec that our engineer and warrior guildmates find hilariously tough to kill. I haven’t done much pvp yet as the pve is so good especially the dynamic dungeon battles.
Which class are you focusing on now?
Our guild Maven rolled on Blackgate.
I’ve been playing Warrior mostly, with a fair amount of Mesmer, and just a bit of Guardian.
I keep re-testing builds with my Warrior and Mesmer so I haven’t spent time on other classes meaningfully yet.
Nice guide, but how did you get the arcane tokens?
Nevermind. I had previously disenchanted about 15 items and had not received a single arcane slot mat. Right after I posted, I got a few arcane orbs :)
You’ll get Arcane Orbs from salvaging the “middle-class” drops for a given tier.
The Arcane Slivers are harder to come by. I just got 2 tonight from salvaging a Svanir weapon.
very nice video but you forgot to say that you can also put 4 leatherbags (they have to be the same size) you get from the boxes in the forge to get new items like weapon tokens etc.
